Detailed Description

Nxai Pan and the Central Kalahari play host to the main part of this tour. Both are differing regions which will give you a broad experience of the drier areas of the country and both are stunning in their own right. The ecosystem here is different as is the game you will see including large herds of springbok and gemsbok, not withstanding that the region is well known for the spectacle of the zebra migration, widely considered to be the second largest migration in Africa. If you are lucky enough, the famous black-maned Kalahari lions can also be seen as well as the secretive brown hyena.

We have rounded of the tour with a visit to Splash Camp in the Okavango Delta, as it would be a shame not to do so whilst you are in the country and it does present to a stunning contrast of regions.

We have given the option here for 2 nights at each camp, however we feel that this trip benefits greatly by staying longer so please contact us for a longer version of this tour.

Daily Itinerary

Arrival

Arrive into Maun Airport. You'll be greeted by your charter aircraft company and flown to your first lodge

Day 1 & 2

The camp occupies an architecturally distinctive position arranged in a semicircle facing an active waterhole, with all accommodations and facilities positioned toward this wildlife focal point. The minimalist white-washed design references the surrounding salt pans, creating visual harmony with the landscape. The main lodge comprises a crescent-shaped thatched structure elevated on a wooden deck, featuring open-air design that removes barriers between guests and the surrounding wilderness.

Day 3 & 4

The Kalahari supports unique wildlife species adapted to desert conditions. Springbok, gemsbok, hartebeest, wildebeest, and jackals inhabit the landscape alongside predators including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and the elusive brown hyena. Birdlife proves surprisingly prolific, with over 300 species recorded, including the massive Kori Bustard and colorful sandgrouse species. The reserve's attractions include excursions to Deception Valley, the dramatic landscape featured in the wildlife book "Cry of the Kalahari," as well as visits to Sunday, Piper, and Passarge Pans. Traditional bushwalk experiences with San trackers provide intimate cultural and natural history education, revealing desert survival techniques perfected over millennia.

Day 5 & 6

The camp occupies a prime position within a 175,000-hectare private reserve that shares a 30-kilometer water boundary with the internationally renowned Moremi Game Reserve. The region derives its name "Splash" from the extensive water crossings historically necessary to reach this remote wilderness area. The location uniquely combines three distinct habitats: permanent waterways that flow year-round, seasonal floodplains that transform with climatic cycles, and extensive dry savannah woodland. This ecological diversity supports exceptional wildlife viewing throughout all seasons and permits a comprehensive range of safari activities unmatched by many competitor camps in the Delta.

Day 7

Today your safari ends and you exit by light aircraft to Maun in time for your international departures or onwards travel.
