Detailed Description

This trip is put together as a short itinerary for those a little pressed for time but want explore the best areas and try 2 different types of camp.

Shinde is a big game area and can offer you very good wildlife activities such as game drives during the day and night. As Shinde is in a private concession the camp also has the ability to travel off-road to follow predators etc….

Kanana is more of a water based camp. Here you can also undertake game drives but the camp is perhaps better known for its motorboat and mokoro excursions and guided walks into the lesser known areas of the Delta.

We think this is one of the better ways to see the Delta if you are short on time.

Arrive into Maun Airport. You'll be greeted by you charter aircraft company and flown to your first lodge

Day 1 - 3

The camp accommodates guests in eight classic safari tents plus one family tent, keeping things intimate with a maximum of around eighteen people. The area is known for its healthy leopard population and the rare sitatunga antelope, which is a web-footed, semi-aquatic antelope that's incredibly elusive. The name "Shinde" actually means tree squirrel in the local language, and you'll probably spot a few darting around in the canopy above. It's run by Ker & Downey Botswana, who are known for excellent service and knowledgeable guides.

Okavango Delta

Day 4 - 6

Kanana Camp is a lovely mid-range option in the Okavango Delta that offers excellent value without compromising on the authentic safari experience. Located in the Xudum concession in the south-eastern part of the Delta, it sits in an area blessed with diverse habitats including seasonal floodplains, woodlands, and permanent waterways. The camp has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that appeals to families, first-time safari goers, and anyone looking for a genuine Delta experience without the hefty price tag of some of the ultra-luxury lodges. There's something refreshingly unpretentious about Kanana—it focuses on what really matters, which is getting you out into this incredible wilderness and helping you connect with it.
