Detailed Description

The emphasis here is on the viewing of wildlife. All 3 camps are in private concessions allowing you the maximum range of activities whilst you are out on excursions. All camps have the ability to conduct night drives and go off-road in search of the more interesting sightings.

We have also chosen the camps for the regions they reside in. In many ways, the Greater Linyanti region speaks for itself as it is known for its large herds of game and their predators, it is a vast region of untouched wilderness.

The Jao Concession is a combination of waterways and dry areas, Little Tubu sits at the tip of the area where it is driest but takes advantage of the floods that come in close by thus giving you good diversity.

Finally, the Chitabe area is on the southern reaches of the Okavango Delta, here the vegetation is different and the camp provides a perfect spot from which to view wildlife.

Daily Itinerary

Arrival

Arrive into Maun Airport. You'll be greeted by a representative before onward charter flight to Tubu Tree.

Day 1 - 2

Located on Hunda Island and nestled amongst a canopy of trees overlooking a seasonal riverbed, Little Tubu offers an exceptional and intimate bush experience for just six guests. The three traditional-style tents are on raised wooden platforms, each with a private viewing deck, an outdoor shower and en-suite bathroom facilities. Elevated walkways link the tents to the main dining, bar and pool areas that are designed to blend seamlessly into the surrounding environment and maximise the Okavango views. The style of the camp and the setting create an authentic sense of being in a remote wilderness, and truly on safari – in comfort and style, but unquestionably in a wild place, among the prolific wildlife. The lodge itself is a small affair although very well appointed. Raised quite high on platforms you can actually walk to the bigger Tubu Tree Lodge via a gangway. A large tented structure held up by gumpoles has an open fronted aspect and is where the main communal lounge and dinning area sits. spacious and comfortable seating is complemented by rustic but elegant furnishings. As the camp only houses 6 people there is plenty of room to relax in privacy.

Day 3 - 5

Chitabe Camp borders the famous Moremi Game Reserve, in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. Chitabe Camp has all the scenery you would expect to enjoy on a luxury African safari – open floodplains, waterways, marshlands, dry acacia and mopane woodlands, riverine areas and open grasslands. The wildlife in this area is a breathtaking mix of the Okavango Delta and is as diverse as it is prolific: from elephant to impala and lion to wild dog. Day 6 - 7

Brand-new DumaTau’s extensive lagoon frontage ensures that each ultra-spacious 142 m2 guest suite has uninterrupted views over Osprey Lagoon, and the movements of the mega-herds of elephant the Linyanti is so famous for. All seven guest suites and one family suite have a private plunge pool and a comfortable lounge, and feature a large bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers. The main dining and lounge area boasts its own wide-angle vistas overlooking the wildlife-rich lagoon, while the Osprey Retreat consists of a wellness centre and gym – shared with Little DumaTau – includes an inviting shaded deck, a lap pool, spa, snack deli and safari trading store. DumaTau runs on 100% solar energy. Duma Tau seeks to ensure the continued protection of a piece of land within the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area, an enormous area that spans borders and is thus pivotal for the conservation of the greater populations of elephant, wild dog and other species. On the banks of the Linyanti River’s Osprey Lagoon, is located close to the source of the Savute Channel, between two elephant corridors, offering an exclusive combination of land and river experiences. Wildlife is viewed during game drives, on nature walks, and while boating along the serene waters of the Linyanti River (levels permitting).

Day 8

Today your safari ends and you exit by a charter flight back to Maun Airport for your onwards travel.
