Okavango Delta

Dry Safaris

Located in the expansive Khwai Private Reserve, Tuludi is one of Natural Selection's more recent additions, having opened in 2019. The camp sits in a grove of towering leadwood trees overlooking a permanent waterhole, with two hundred thousand hectares of pristine wilderness stretching out beyond. The name Tuludi comes from a Setswana word describing leopard markings – colors and patterns held in high esteem by local people – and the camp earned this name after a female leopard walked past the founding team during their first night camping on the site. It's fitting, because the area is genuinely excellent for leopard sightings, though you'll see plenty of other wildlife too, from massive elephant and buffalo herds to lion, wild dog, and an incredible variety of plains game.

With just seven tented rooms accommodating a maximum of fourteen guests, Tuludi maintains an intimate and exclusive atmosphere. The whole camp is connected by raised wooden walkways that weave through the trees, giving it a playful treehouse quality. There's even a library perched four meters up in the boughs of a giant tree, complete with a slide back down to ground level – a slightly whimsical touch that adds character. The main areas are spacious and contemporary, featuring a large swimming pool, multiple dining options both indoors and out, a striking curved bar decorated with mosaic glass animals, and various decks for wildlife watching.

The camp operates in partnership with the local Khwai community, providing employment and supporting various initiatives including a cultural village, guide training programs, and a feeding program. Activities include game drives, walking safaris, and when water levels permit, mokoro excursions and boat trips exploring the reserve's waterways and floodplains.

The Accommodation

Tuludi offers seven tented accommodations, all built in a treehouse style that's raised off the ground and nestled among magnificent leadwood trees. Six of these are configured as either twins or doubles, while one is specifically designed for families with a king-size bed and two singles. What immediately strikes you about these rooms is the sheer space – each tent stretches to around sixty square meters with lofty canvas roofs that create an incredibly airy, open feeling. The whole camp is connected by raised wooden walkways that wind through the trees, giving you that elevated jungle vibe while maintaining your privacy.

The interiors strike a lovely balance between contemporary sophistication and traditional safari style. You'll find natural tones and earthy colors throughout, mixed with intriguing touches like vintage maps, botanical prints, and treasures collected from around the Okavango area. Each tent has a proper bedroom space with a separate dressing area off to the side, and the en-suite bathrooms are seriously well-equipped with both indoor and outdoor showers plus a bathtub – perfect for a long soak after a dusty game drive. There are also battery charging stations in the rooms, which is always appreciated.

The real showstopper though is your private deck with its own plunge pool. Every single room has one, which is pretty special. You can sit on your deck under the shade of those massive leadwood trees, take a dip in your pool, and watch wildlife coming to the nearby waterhole without ever leaving your tent. It's that perfect combination of luxury and wilderness immersion that makes Tuludi such a special place to stay.
