The Accommodation

Boteti River Camp isn't trying to be anything fancy, and that's exactly what makes it work. This is proper budget accommodation done right – the kind of place that prioritizes location and cleanliness over frills, and honestly, sometimes that's all you need.

The camp offers eight en-suite chalets scattered around the grounds – five standard units and three family chalets. They're simple and functional rather than luxurious. You'll get twin beds that can be pushed together, air-conditioning (which is genuinely brilliant when the temperatures soar during migration season), mosquito nets, and a desk. The family chalets throw in a bunk bed for the kids. Each has its own bathroom with an open-air shower, which is a nice touch that brings a bit of the outdoors in without sacrificing comfort.

What really matters here is that everything's clean and well-maintained, the management clearly takes pride in keeping standards up. The chalets are spaced reasonably apart in the garden, giving you some sense of privacy. And here's the thing – you're literally next to the entrance gate of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, with the Boteti River right there.

There's also a campsite with eight pitches if you're the self-sufficient type, complete with shared ablutions that are reportedly kept in good nick. It's no-nonsense accommodation in an extraordinary location.
