Tucked into a four-acre ancient teak forest on the western edge of Victoria Falls town, Mbano Manor Hotel is one of the most distinctive properties in Zimbabwe's tourism landscape. Founded and owned by Dr Matifadza Nyazema — a trailblazing Black female hotelier — the property carries a story as compelling as its setting, having been recognised by TIME Magazine as one of the World's Greatest Places in 2025.
Eighteen elegantly appointed suites and a private forest villa are arranged across the estate, each designed around generous verandas that look out over cathedral-like teak canopy. Architecture leans into bungalow tradition — shuttered windows, hand-painted tiles, oversized bathtubs and teak furniture accented with African art and fabric. The Terrace restaurant draws on Mbano's own garden to produce regional dishes that feel genuinely local rather than internationally generic.
It sits roughly four kilometres from the falls entrance, close enough for easy access while feeling entirely removed from the town's activity.
