Kwara Camp sits in one of the Okavango Delta's most enviable locations, perched on an island overlooking a secluded lagoon in the northeastern reaches of this famous wetland. As one of the oldest camps in Botswana, it was completely rebuilt in 2019 and now accommodates guests in nine spacious canvas tents, each positioned on raised wooden platforms with private decks offering stunning lagoon views. The camp operates within the vast Kwara Concession, a massive area of around 175,000 hectares shared with just two other camps, ensuring an exceptionally exclusive safari experience with minimal tourist traffic.
What makes Kwara particularly special is its remarkable environmental diversity and the year-round availability of both land and water activities. The concession encompasses papyrus-lined permanent waterways and lagoons in the south, seasonal floodplains dotted with wooded islands around the camp, and extensive dry mopane woodlands and open savannah to the north. This varied landscape attracts an impressive concentration of wildlife and has earned Kwara a stellar reputation for predator sightings, with lions, leopards, cheetahs, and wild dogs regularly spotted. The area also sees large elephant herds, particularly during the dry season, and on rare occasions, white rhino have been sighted.
The camp's commitment to delivering authentic safari experiences is evident in everything from their early morning departures to their later evening returns, maximizing opportunities to see predators when they're most active. Guests can explore via traditional game drives, peaceful mokoro canoe trips through the channels, double-decker boat excursions to the renowned Godikwe Lagoon for birdwatching, guided bush walks, and even fishing expeditions, creating a truly comprehensive Okavango Delta experience.
