Among the smallest and most individual places to stay in Victoria Falls, 528 — also known as 528 on Reynard — is the kind of property that tends to leave a disproportionate impression. Owners Paul and Meredith spent over a year converting a rundown residential house into what is now one of the town's most characterful boutique guesthouses, and their personal investment in the project shows in every corner. The building is dressed throughout in work by Zimbabwean artists and craftspeople — hand-painted murals, carved woodwork, bespoke chandeliers, copper basins — giving the property an aesthetic that feels genuinely rooted in local culture rather than generically African.
Sitting about two and a half kilometres from the falls in a quiet leafy suburb, 528 serves breakfast only, but its rooftop Treetops bar more than compensates, offering panoramic views over the surrounding treeline to the distant Zambezi at sunset. With just eight rooms, the experience is intimate by nature, and the owners' hands-on presence gives it a warmth that larger properties simply can't replicate.
