Sediba Sa Rona is opening in March 2026 in the Khwai Concession, rising from the site of the historic Khwai River Lodge, which was one of Botswana's very first photographic safari camps. The name means "Our Source of Water" in tribute to the Khwai River that flows right in front of the lodge, and the whole project is a partnership between Desert & Delta Safaris and a locally-owned company, which gives it a strong community connection. What's impressive is that they've kept the original footprint with just fifteen tented suites to minimize environmental impact, while completely redesigning everything with modern architecture and natural materials that blend beautifully into the riverine forest setting.
The location is absolutely prime – you're right on the edge of the Khwai River with Moremi Game Reserve on your doorstep, sitting at this incredible meeting point where the waterways of the Okavango Delta transition into drier woodlands and grasslands. This diversity of habitats means the wildlife viewing is exceptional year-round, with huge concentrations of elephants, buffalo, big cats, wild dogs, and an amazing variety of birds. The lodge itself has all the facilities you'd want including a swimming pool, spa, fire deck overlooking the river, multiple dining areas, and a well-stocked bar.
Activities are really varied here, which sets it apart. You can do twice-daily game drives including night drives, seasonal mokoro trips on the river when water levels allow, bush walks, and even helicopter flights if you want that aerial perspective. The combination of land and water-based activities gives you a much more complete Delta experience than camps that only focus on one or the other.
