Gomoti Plains is a relatively new safari camp tucked into a beautiful corner of the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana, sitting right on the edge of the Gomoti River system. The location is absolutely stunning, with sweeping views across seasonal floodplains that attract incredible amounts of wildlife throughout the year. What makes this place special is how it manages to feel remote and wild while still being accessible, positioned in an area where the permanent waters of the Delta meet the drier landscapes, creating this amazing diversity of habitats and wildlife all in one spot.
The camp itself strikes a lovely balance between contemporary design and traditional safari atmosphere. It's an intimate setup with just a handful of tents, which means you get personalized attention and never feel like you're part of a crowd. The main areas are open and airy, with comfortable lounges and dining spaces that look out over the floodplains, and there's a lovely pool for cooling off during the heat of the day. The game viewing here is genuinely excellent, with big herds of elephants and buffalo, plenty of predators including lions and leopards, and during certain times of year, you might see the zebra migration passing through. The birdlife is phenomenal too, especially when the waters are high.
What really sets Gomoti Plains apart is the quality of the guiding and the variety of activities on offer. You can do traditional game drives, but also walking safaris and seasonal mokoro trips when water levels allow. The guides are knowledgeable and passionate, and there's this real sense that they want you to truly understand and appreciate the ecosystem, not just tick off the big animals. It's become one of those camps that people return to, and it's easy to see why.
