Khwai Tented Camp Map
This is a new camp which is now the permanent version of a camp which used to move around the same area every few days or so. It is situated on the Khwai River and takes advantage of what is currently one of the most productive game areas in Botswana. The camp is quite basic and perhaps a little top heavy in price, especially as it is in a public concession. However, the camp does give you a marvelous sense of old style safaris where the emphasis was on the “comfortable” and not opulent and great dedication was given to game viewing.
The staff here are generally good, especially the guiding, and you will very much enjoy your day and night drives in this incredibly game rich environment

The magnificent area boasts of unparalleled wilderness with highlights of big herds of buffalo in the dry season and close encounters of unique wildlife species such as aardvark. Large herds of elephants can be viewed at the rivers and waterholes, and thousands of zebra concentrate in the winter before heading south.
Other wildlife seen includes lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, giraffe, eland, sable, hippo, hyena, aardvark and various other nocturnal species. The endless vistas of the Linyanti marsh makes an incredible playing field for the avid bird watcher combined with breath taking views of a scenery carved by defiant forces of nature. Water birds, including pelican, are common.
Providing a peaceful co-existence between man and nature, the Khwai Community Concession allows you to experience the best of wildlife in Botswana’s iconic Moremi Game Reserve, combining your safari with a taste of culture in the old village of Khwai.
The new Khwai Tented Camp, with its captivating sights, sounds and smells, will capture your heart and make you feel like you are a part of the African wilderness. Fall asleep to the chorus of an African lullaby – hundreds of croaking frogs, the splashing of hippos at a midnight buffet, and the urgent call of the lions in that quiet moment just before dawn.
The new exclusive location, is set on the banks of a lagoon flowing into the Khwai river, and acts as a boundary between the reserve and the community area, offering visitors staying at Khwai Tented Camp several unique ways to experience Africa.
The main living area is on a raised deck and is situated right on the Khwai river affording you great views.
Simply furnished this tented lounge in the style of classic africa with soft muted coloured furnishings and a dining area.
The 6 Meru style tents are positioned on wooden decking along the edge of the lagoon and include en-suite bathroom facilities with flush toilets and al fresco bucket showers. Solar lighting is used throughout the camp in an effort to minimise the impact on our surroundings.
Adjacent to the Northern/Eastern parts of Moremi Game Reserve and to the Southern/Western corner of Chobe National Park, and along the River Khwai, this beautiful wilderness area provides the perfect setting where a community living in harmony with nature and wildlife is completely evident.
The magnificent Khwai River forms a boundary between the reserve and the community area, and is the hub for some of the most outstanding wildlife viewing in the region. As the sole source of water for miles around, the Khwai River attracts wildlife from near and afar.
The vegetation here is quite different from the Western section of Moremi where great stands of leadwood and mopane woodlands occur in close proximity to open grasslands and the Khwai River.
