Safari Lifestyles View

Certainly the area we would say is reasonably marginal in that it is not in an area that can compete for game sightings such as the Greater Linyanti of Khwai. However the area is productive and this is a good camp offering day and night drives and mokoro excursions at a pretty reasonable price, and to be honest you never know what game activity there will be anywhere in the Delta.

It was hoped that the camps could offer Botswana's first ballooning experience over the Delta but that isn't quite ready yet.

Wildlife & Activities

Common trees found around the area are the jackalberry, African mangosteen and the ubiquitous sausage tree, which provide shade food and shelter to a fantastic range of wildlife. Game drives in this region are productive.

The annually flooded grasslands of the Okavango Delta surrounding the camp are locally referred to as 'melapo' and offer seasonal viewing of elephant, giraffe, impala, sable antelope, kudu, zebra, common waterbuck and reedbuck, tsessebe, wildebeest, red lechwe and Cape buffalo. Encounters with hippo and crocodile are common in the waterways. Predators include the African Wild Dog, several resident prides of lion, leopard, cheetah and the African wildcat.

The Camp

Camp Overview

The northern areas of the Delta feature larger expanses of savannah punctuated by lagoons and tributaries, and it is on the banks of one of these that a magnificent site has been selected for Kadizora Camp.

Beneath a majestic stand of trees and along a peninsula, commanding uninterrupted panoramic vistas of the Delta, the camp has been set out to afford each luxury tent absolute privacy.

Lodge Layout

The main lodge communal areas are based out of 4 large tented structures that fan out in an arc fronted by a very large wooden veranda decking to the front. In the centre of the veranda is a cleared sandy pit where safari directors chairs are placed around the firepit for your evenings conversation.

To one end is the dining area under canvas which is very nicely adorned with tables and white linen and wooden and wicker chairs.

The next structure along acts mostly as an entrance to the communal area and also the exit to the accommodation, there is some simple seating here.

The last two tents are 2 separate lounges, however here the lodge has done pretty well in accommodating relaxing guests. The first lounge is again a tented affair with two large coffee tables surrounded by many lovely high back armchairs and sitting on wooden flooring with a few north African type rugs.

The second lounge is much further to the front and reachable by some steps up to a higher deck and is much more open giving you a superb view over the floodplains beyond. We thought that this was quite a well thought out idea and gives all the guests plenty of relaxation points without all being in one place.

Room Description

Each accommodation is quite large and spacious and is made of a canvas structure erected on a lovely wooden deck which extends out to a viewing deck where you can sit peacefully.

The front of the main area of your accommodation is a double fronted canvas affair with two zipped doors that can be opened out wide so that the whole of the front is left open. This does give you a lovely airy feel and brings the outside in as it affords you great views from either your bed our small lounge.

Furniture is of dark wood with a chest of drawers and writing table with chair, African style rugs adorn the floor and as the tent is long the bed area is separate from the lounge area which has 2 large armchairs positioned for the view.

A wooden door leads to the en-suite area where we find out only oddity in this camp. the bathroom is actually quite nice with a his and hers vanity unit, a large shower cubicle and unusually, a bath, which many camps at this price don't have. Its just the combination of tiling around the shower and vanity unit materiel that looks a bit out of place... the rest of camp succeeds well in providing a bit of luxury with a bush camp fee, whilst the bathroom is a bit motel-like, nothing wrong, just feels out of place.

Camp Environment

The camp looks out over the large floodplains in area that was close to the old Vumbura Plains site, just a bit further north.

This area is a mixture of wetland and dry-land. The camp itself  sits beneath a majestic stand of trees and along a peninsula, commanding uninterrupted panoramic vistas of the delta, the camp has been set out to afford each luxury tent absolute privacy.

Game wanders freely around the area so you never now what you may see.
