Safari Lifestyles View

The lodge itself is basic and quite OK , it is one you could consider as it is situated right on the flowing Savuti channel.

What lets this place down is its proximity to the public camp-site which some berths were moved to make place for the lodge.  If you are staying here try to ensure that your accommodation is the furthest point from the public area.

We at Safari Lifestyles feel that the price charged for the lodge is high considering other lodges and other areas that have lodges at a similar price bracket.

Wildlife & Activities

Now that water has returned to the Savuti Marsh, more breeding herds of elephants are being attracted, as are herds of buffalo that were harder to see in past years. The Zebra migrations attend during the summer months further swelling the numbers of general plains game.

Always known for its predators, Savuti is most famous for its lions, but populations of Leopard and hyena are good, you must always look out fort cheetah and wild dog, which are also know to travel in the area..

The activities include morning and afternoon game drives through the park and along the fringes of the channel and marsh. The game-viewing vehicles are open to facilitate game-watching and photography, and your guide will delight in showing you the beauty and diversity of Savuti’s natural wonders. Even though the camp itslf is not the best, it does offer superb game and birding-viewing and the open area around the marsh is truly spectacular.

The Camp

Camp Overview

Camp Savuti is a small camp of 5 Meru tents accommodating a maximum of 10 guests in comfort and style. The tents have been positioned to ensure privacy and a modest level of exclusivity throughout the camp. Each tent sits on a platform, with views over the Savuti Channel.

The tents are reasonably large and spacious with en-suite facilities.

Lodge Layout

n the guest areas, there is a comfortable and open lounge, bar and dining area. The main construction is of canvas and gumpole, one would not consider the lodge as sophisticated, however it is spacious.

Out on the sands and pretty much right on the Savuti Channel is a small seating area and firepit

Room Description

Tents are modest and simple, being constructed of canvas and gumpoles with a basic but comfortable bed and simple furnishings. The tents are on raised platforms.

Camp Environment

Camp Savuti is a 20 minute game drive from the Savuti airstrip in Chobe National Park.

The Savuti Marsh, fed by the Savuti Channel, has developed a reputation over the years as one of the world’s premier predator viewing areas, boasting one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the African continent. A number of award-winning documentary films shot in Savuti have cemented it reputation.

The Channel, dry since 1982, started flowing again in 2010 and is now once again flooding the Marsh, an area of sweet grasses that attracts herbivores of every description and, this being Africa, their attendant predators.

That cam itself is in a good position and overlooks the flowing channel, unfortunately it sits right besides the quite busy and popular public camp-site which does affect the ambiance somewhat.
